I started The Solution Space because I wanted to create the kind of therapy practice I believe in: one where a small group of thoughtful, skilled therapists support and continue learning from one another rather than practicing in isolation. One where clients feel seen, heard and safe.
I’ve been a psychologist, professor, and clinical supervisor for more than 20 years, and one thing I’ve learned is that becoming a good therapist doesn’t end when you earn a degree or a license. Good therapists stay curious. They think carefully about their clients. They ask questions, seek consultation, learn new approaches, and keep getting better at what they do, leading to better outcomes for their clients.
That’s the culture we have at The Solution Space.
Our therapists bring different backgrounds, specialties, and ways of working. Some are licensed clinicians with years of experience, and I also supervise LPCCs as they complete the clinical experience required for independent licensure in Colorado. What they share is a commitment to doing thoughtful, individualized therapy—not simply applying the same technique to every person who walks through the door.

About Dr. Hellman
Dr. Sonja Hellman is the Clinical Director at The Solution Space in Lafayette, Colorado. With over 30 years of experience as a licensed clinical psychologist, she has held roles as a clinician, post-doctorate researcher, and Assistant Professor, developing a broad understanding of various therapeutic approaches.
Dr. Hellman also teaches techniques nationwide and serves as the lead researcher on a University of Colorado, Boulder project exploring RRT’s efficacy with survivors of sexual assault. Currently, she focuses on supervising and mentoring the clinic’s team of therapists, ensuring the highest standards of care for clients. While not seeing new clients herself, she closely supervises the clinic’s mission of fostering healing and thriving within the community.
